Moving to Regina!!

Just confirmed my Co-op placement for IPSCO in Regina for 8 months starting September. Anyone here from there? I'd love to bring my car over there, anything that might be of concern? I know I have to get through winter there, and the drive back in April won't be too nice. Definitely will get a set of snow tires once I get there.

Regina, poor guy. j/k

I would be concerned about salt. The way the winters have been lately there has been alot of melting then freezing along with freezing rain. I park my 944 from October to April.

Driving back in April would be tough as March and April storms are brutal.

My opinion only but if your going to be there only for 8 months and those months are thru the winter I would leave the car home. Regina winters are definetly not like Vancouver winters. I would just store the car for the time you are away.

Just my opinion.

If you do decide to bring it, the drive through the mountains is EXCELLENT, (In decent weather) September you are probably OK but I would not think good travelling in April but I have not driven in April.

I second the thought of driving during the winter in Regina. I wouldn't do it. Too much snow, salt and bad drivers out there...

Shawn, I sent you a pm.

I think I'd leave the P-car behind, especially if you're not used to driving in Regina in the winter.

I'm from Regina and have driven the rough pot-holed roads for many many years. Rear wheel drive cars is all I had there too; fun in the snow. If I were to go back (which I won't), I thought it would be fun (for me, not suggesting you do) to have the P-car experience since the engine sits over the drive wheels and it's air cooled. VW beetles were well known to be good in the snow, I imagine a P-car would be too with proper narrow tires. You get good at fish-tailing. Anyhow, find yourself a beater and drive that. Buy it there since it will likely have a block heater (you'll need it).

Got a new car!!

1981 Chevy Van "Triple E" - The ultimate Shagmobile!

All that for $800, and $400 for registration for a year. I'm likin' it here! (although we'll see about that when the winter hits)
