Doubt you will find a body shop and mechanic in the same spot so you will probably have to with two different shops.

Sorry you are taking some hits here but this is a very curious project. You are in So. Calif. were there is no shortage of Porsche's available it would certainly be cheaper to find a low mile pristine 944 in the area. Can I presume this car has some personal connection for you?
I've had the car since it was about three years old, so yes I kind of have a connection to it. But even restored, it will not be my daily driver anymore.

Yes, I agree the body shop and mechanic shop will probably be different sites.

I thought about yes if I buy a cleaner 944, the I would have a better start. But even the clean ones will not be NEW and would still have to have most parts replaced.

I think this car will need to be stripped down to the chassis and completely restored with all new parts.

On the future 968 projects, I'm currently looking for 2 cars to purchase, one is actually for someone else. I'm trying to stay with a hard top, the newer the better.
