Apparently, this seems to be a common problem from the many posts on this subject. I'll tell you my experience. My 85 INTERMITTENTLY pulled hard to the left whilst breaking, maybe 50% of the time. Same thing, let go of the wheel and it would turn to the left alot even at slow speeds. I checked my pads and they were about half to 3/4 worn-I still felt like I had enough pad left. Long story short, calipers seemed o.k. too so I figured it was swollen break hoses causing one of the calipers to not fully retract and thus contact sooner than the rest when I would hit the brakes. I brought the car in last week for some maintanance and told the guy to check the brakes and that I was probably ready for new brake lines. He called me back and said I needed new pads all around and the calipers needed excersizing. He said the lines were fine. He went on to say the pads wer NOT worn out BUT were worn eneough for the calipers to "cock" inward when I brake. I was skepticle but let him go to it. The damn brakes work awesome and there is no pull at all now. He did not charge me that much for the job, put on the factory pads, and excersized the calipers, also replaced all of the brake fluid-He said the fluid looked real bad so maybe that was part of the reason it pulled. I don't know. I am very happy with the brakes now and the dead-straight stoping- It cost me about $285.00 total for the job.
