Driving along yesterday, I noticed that my blower fan only operated at 2 speeds - off and full blast - which indicated the ballast resistor is shot.

I'm sorry to say that a call to Pelican wasn't much help - the person who answered the phone knew nothing about electrical systems (his words) and that without a part number he couldn't help (I was at work, no PET), and then advised me to email pelican tech support (I didn't need tech support, I knew what was wrong and where it was, I wanted to buy a part)

Anyways, Since the garage was closed, I called up the not so local Porsche dealer - they want $184 for the resistor!!!!

Took it out today - no obvious physical damage, so I soaked it in vinegar to remove the corrosion from the copper. The two little thermoswitches bubbled away for about an hour - after rinsing, drying, and reinstalling the part - everything works.

you recommended white vinegar a long time ago, back then it was $165 for the resistor.
