It's a trait of the car. The clutch has different dynamics, meaning the rate of travel is not the same as the cable operated clutch. That may not make any sense, but if you push the clutch in a quarter of a second sooner and make sure you don't "short clutch," it won't happen. Another way to look at it is you are pulling the shift lever a quarter of a second too soon. It just doesn't work with the same timing as your 356, or any of the other cable clutches.
I would wager there is nothing wrong with your tranny. Conek, since his car is down, try this and come on back.
