A friend of mine recently bought an 1978 SC coupe with 146k miles, engine completely rebuilt including the updated air box pop off valve and carrera chain tensioners. The car was originally a green color but was repainted black (professionally done, but probably not a 'factory' correct color) it's more of a gloss black rather than a metallic black (like Hal's).

Anyway, the car doesn't have original seats and (probably) didn't come with the rear spoiler on it.

The guy ended up paying $17k for it. That seems a little high to me. It might not be, but then again, as a comparison, there's a local '78 SC targa with 59k orig. miles and new paint in the paper for $14,500, and I'm not sure I'd go much higher than that for a car with 146k miles on it. I know people say that SC engines can last up to 200k miles and beyond, if properly taken care of, but it seems like you can get a decent Carrera 3.2 for $17k these days...

I don't know. What do you guys think? Is $17k too much to pay for an SC?
