Dave...
the material seems to be like the washers used on carburetor fittings....it is like a red fiber washer that I have used on 911 Solex and Webers...the carb ones are just smaller
I haven't looked for any as I usually have salvaged the old ones....maybe someone has a source for the red fiber ones...
