OK.

You need (at least) two test leads (wires with an alligator clip on each end). Clip one to each blade in the connector and ground one to the car chassis. Take the other one and tap the positive post of the battery while holding the motor to keep it from taking off on you due to torque. If the motor is good, it will spin. If it is dead, it will not.

If you have access to an ohm meter, simply taking a resistance reading across the motor leads will tell you whether the motor has an "open" (broken wire). If this is the case, attaching it to the battery won't do a thing.
