BTDT!!!
There are some obvious brackets from the top which must be removed....then you pull and pull on it and wonder why the hell its not coming out!
Sound familiar??? There's a bracket on the bottom!
Remove the carpet and plywood plate in the passenger's footwell. You will see an air intake for the A/c unit here with a little bracket thing holding it in. Remove this...3 phillips screws I believe and the box will pull right out.
