Go on most forums and you guys in the USA dominate most of them. One because there are 250,000,000 of you and second you must have the most idle time out of the western world. Ha Ha, With saying that, I would also like to say that because of it, We, The Rest Of The World can get good advice on stuff that is related to the same bikes simply because of the Sheer volume of you lot! With any of the bikes you buy, purchase any brand, you receive the lowest price of any country. I'm talking here Thousands $$$$$$ Go on any website and compare the UK, Australia, South Africa, even Germany, and you pay so much less. Call it Tarrifs, Tax, or for the hell of it, better economic Government Shiet!! Your Wages, Salary must be crap in conparison with us or you are just one hell of a lucky country to receive such a benifit. Outside the USA we can pay anywhere between $3,000- $10,000 more in your money for the same bike.
So when one goes out to make a purchase on a bike one would expect to have done his resurch on that model simply because of the cost involved.
I am a 2 x owner on the R1100S. Both bikes new at purchase. I saw the R1200S in mid 2006 and was so disappointed with the design. It didn't stop me from having a test ride though. The power, handling simply left the old bike behind as one would expect from a new model. I didn't purchase one because of the stupid pillion seat. I have to think of my wife! Anyway now 18 months on I am looking at the bike in a new light. My wife is expecting a child, and she will not be getting on the bike for a long time. The problem I am having with just going out and trading my bike on a R1200S is the lack of sales we have had in Australia, and the fact that you guys don't have it offered as a 2008 Model. Is BMW going to pull this bike and give us a new one for 2009? Whats going on.
$21,000AU base price is a lot of money to be riding one of BMW's greatest disapointments. With no resale value!
