Maui was nice 25 years ago.
Now it's no different than O'ahu.
I remember the area from Kanapali to Napili undeveloped; just bush and a few small chapels.
Went fishing with the Natives early in the mornings and a few times swimming with the Humpbacks migrating between Molokai and Maui.
Now it's Condo-row all the way from Kehei to Napili.
I have to laugh when I see the rented Ferraris, Corvettes, Porsches etc. all stuck in traffic while I zoom along on my Carbon fiber Hybrid-bicycle.
None of the Hawaiian Islands are good for fast driving. Too much congestion and heavy fines for speeding.
One high-spirited drive from many years ago I remember was to get up at 2:00 AM and make it up Haleakela Mountain for the Sun-up. And yes, there was ice and snow on top of Haleakela.
There are areas that are still nice but, they are getting harder to find.
Back to reality: Lot's of snow on the ground here; hoping for a warm Spring.
