I think the harsh vibration is referring to the shifter itself.
On the stock shifter, if the rubber bushings inside are gone or damage it will vibrate a LOT at certain RPMS.
The non-stock shifter I have vibrates a little, in a similar way, at around 2000rpm when the engine is pulling hard.
