Good points Rusnak, but I like the Aluminum, looks more updated and will fit with the white gauges a little better. I have been fabing my own parts out of Aluminum, brushed with a coat of clear, but also have had a few pieces anodized black with the edges still brushed in the GT40, looks very good without being "too much" The problem may be, you have that wood everywhere, so it would be nice if you had some luck removing without damage so you would not have to put it all back, and be more judicious with where you want some accent pieces.
Another entirely different approach would be to recover some or all of the wood pieces with the factory looking leather or vinyl. Very easy to stretch over and glue up pieces. I am making a custom center console and having to do that, very easy and looks more original. No pictures to post yet, but I will as I get closer to completion. /Tony
