If the fan started when you gave it a bump, it is a pretty safe bet that the motor windings have a dead spot in them and you need a new fan motor.

Ouch. That fan is $300 on line or $600 at the dealer. How badly do you need to feel cool when stopped at stoplights? The A/C will work fine on the highway without that fan.
