Unless your tires are rubbing then there is no need for spacers. In fact you don't want spacers at all.. They're extra rotational weight.
If you have the money to burn I'd go for better brakes but probably start saving cause unless the engine was recently rebuild and the "ports" cleaned you may have a nice surprise.. (search is your best friend)
I'm not saying that all engines will show the port plugged problem but seems like it's a big issue for 993 engines.
