Porsche Crest Wheel spacers, do I want them? Do I need them

Once again I seek the advice from this much appreciated group of experts.

I fully expect this request to be very fundamental to most of you, so be kind I’m still learning.

My question; should I buy wheel spacers? What is to be gained? Are there any risks?
If your advice is to do so, how do I know the size? I see H&R has sizes from 4mm up.

My car: 1997 Porsche 911 (993) Daily driver only!

What I’ve done so far to the suspension.
1. Lowered with H&R sport springs, using Bilstein HD struts.
2. HRE 597R wheels. 18” x 10” rears, 18 x 8.5” front.
3. Rennline strut brace in trunk.

It seems that every time I open a catalog I see things I think I can’t live without. Am I just obsessing?

What would be your advice for additional parts I should consider?

Thanks so much for your time I greatly appreciate it.
James

Wheel spacers are usually used to fit (ill fitting) wheels - by adjusting the backspacing. If you have wheels that fit well, no need for them. Save your money.

Unless your tires are rubbing then there is no need for spacers. In fact you don't want spacers at all.. They're extra rotational weight.
If you have the money to burn I'd go for better brakes but probably start saving cause unless the engine was recently rebuild and the "ports" cleaned you may have a nice surprise.. (search is your best friend)
I'm not saying that all engines will show the port plugged problem but seems like it's a big issue for 993 engines.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, much appreciated as usual. I’m sure I can find something else to spend my money on.

I did have the ports plugged in my car. Fortunately my shop did a slow (3 days) flush job as opposed to the very costly factory removal & ream job recommendation. The check engine light went away and has not come back on since.

For those of you yet to tackle this problem it seems if you have the time to let your shop do the Chemtol (I could have the product wrong?) flush treatment you can save a chunk of change. The Porsche dealer told me I needed to have the engine removed to get to the tubes.

I am ever so grateful for your valued advice.
Be safe,
