Some of you know that like Shaun, my CB400f was a nice introduction to motorcycling but as I rode more, especially on the freeway, I was itching for a bigger and more modern ride but on a budget of close to what I could sell the CB for. Well, that didn't take too long. I've been watching CL closely and looking at CBR600's and VFR's. I didn't like the 4fi I rode, very twitchy throttle, not much bigger than my CB400f and just felt wrong.
The VFR on the other hand fit me like a glove, very smooth and impeccably cared for. Maintenance up to date and full service history and books. It was love at first ride. It's got 33,000 miles, has a very nicely done yellow paint job at some point vs. the original white, corbin seat and some other goodies. I don't know if I would have picked yellow but the visibility is nice and it's growing on me. I was just so impressed with the seller. He takes really good care of his stuff and was a super nice guy. He had an older Goldwing in his garage that looks showroom new and has almost 100,000 miles. He rides almost every day and replaced this one with an 02. The only cosmetic issue is an area on the right side where the bike was partially dropped from the center stand. That got the price down below $3,000, about where I can sell the CB for.....
I took the long way home from his house. He only lived 15 minutes away, somehow took me close to an hour to make it back. Freaked my daughter out a bit who took me to pick it up.
