I've got a dozen steering wheels I am working at getting recovered at reasonable prices, but still using Porsche quality leather. Its moving slowly though, but maybe in 3 or 4 months it will be rolling. Good sources available now are around $250 or so.
The splined thing that goes on the shaft of the steering column I believe is only attached to the steering wheel by 3 screws and can be swapped with other Porsche steering wheels to use them in a 928. Two steering wheels I like are the 930, which is just cool looking etc., and some of the 944 steering wheels that look like the 928 4 spoke, but are a slightly smaller diameter.
