I think there is a nylon or plastic P clip that traditionally busts on the heater control cables that causes this problem. In fact, I think my car has the same snaglet... I should probably get it fixed by next summer.

Ha: I've just checked Clarks; there is extensive info in the garage manual under heater malfunctions
