Fuel tank is I think 23.5 gals, and I've put 23 in more than a few times. Don't think I ever did a $100 fillup yet.
If the car is new to you, R&R of the fuel tank is a good idea. Pull the tank, flush it out, inspect it, paint the support frame and renew the strap pads, new hoses, new fuel filter etc.
