The "winner" of the twisty canyon scenario is typically determined by about 30% skill, 20% car, and 50% taking stupid risks. A good driver and car can easily run at the front of the pack of these so-called "cruises" while driving at his own comfort and safety level, but a no talent assclown can still go flying by everyone just because he's willing to take stupid risks and try to drive at 11/10ths on the street. It's not the kind of "race" you want to be in if you actually have some skill and brains, save it for a real race track where it will be comically easy to blow away the street racer types.
