I had mine tied up with speaker cable for 4 months. I have it mounted now, but with the wrong size screws and whatnots. It's not connected with a belt though.
Funny. I never thought that I could shear off a 13mm stud like that, but there it went! Right in half! As far as I know, the alternator turnbuckle is fine
