Is the wire missing? did you take the switch out? The trick here is don't break the wire off... when you remove these remember the switch is very basic - helps to have a replacement handy. BTW always replace these - don't bother trying to clean them - they always fail again quickly - they are cheap and esily available - order 4 and be ready for the next time.
To remove safely: hold the plunger pin steady pushed in a little with a pair of pliers then use a wrench to loosen the nut part then when finger loose spin it out while keeping the pin still. This avoids twisting the wire off the pin... Then remove through the hole very carefully - Think about it...
The wires usually either get twisted off, pulled off the pin on removal or dissapear down the hole after removal - have a strip of masking tape ready to secure it.
BTW... of course nobody admits to any of these - "the PO did it"
