I think the weight loss / exercise advice is spot on.
Steroids don't help but in the end you put more calories in than you need and that's how you gain weight. Steroids do not contain any calories.
The real issue is gaining weight slowly: a pound every quarter, 4 pounds a year, 80 pounds in 20 years ...
A pound of fat is only 3600 calories. This means if you gain a pound every quarter, you ate 3600 calories too many in about 100 days. That is 40 calories a day. You only have to cut out 1-2 beers a week or exercise for 5 more minutes a day to maintain your weight ...
Every year I age I have to up the exercise and cut back on the calories. Somehow the body just doesn't burn what it used to, even at the same activity level ... I watch my weight, and if it goes up more than 3 pounds, I take action and change my lifestyle to rebalance my exercise / food intake and shed the weight.
Since you are seeing the quacks frequently anyway, I recommend you make an appointment with a nutritionist and see how they can help.
