JM, the shifter rows through the gears just fine. No linkages hit or bind.
Although it looks like that flat spot on the rod is perfect for accepting a set screw, the other side actually has a recess in it, like a non threaded screw hole, for one. So I went with that side because that's the side the factory set screw is on.
