There are Porsche techs and then there are 928 techs. It is true that a neglected 928 can be a real money pit. Even a good one will always be a more complex car than a 911 or 944, more like a 993 or a 996 I would think. Way faster than a 924, more comparable to a 944 turbo, without the lag.
I wouldn't want a mechanic to work on a 928 who didn't like them. Personally, I think you are a 944 guy. Way different league, and in that way your mechanic is correct.
