my memory is bad but I think this was the symptom on my car - there is a metal bar in the stalk light switch. If you bend it back it will work again and then be very careful with going from high beam to low beam or "blinking" the high beams.... my memory is that this puts big stress on the "bar" and causes the issue. My switch has remained fixed for about 7 years after I bent the bar back.
