I think part of the recent large number of cars listed in the classifieds may have something to do with the time of year. During the summer, people who have had a car sitting in their barn for years sell them off and people who have had project cars sitting in their sideyard part them out. It's an attempt to get it done before the snow and rain starts falling. At least that's how I work personally and suspect I am not alone.
I've got a '66 912 that I've been sitting on for a couple of years. It's not worth putting back together because it was hit really hard in the rear end and bent the frame and torsion tubes. Couple that with a bunch of rocker rust and it's a parts car. It's got a lot of really nice trim and certain mechanical things, but it's a parts car for sure. I'm trying to tear it down and get it off my property before it snows, even if I am going to put many of the parts in the shed and sit on them for the next project.
