Ha, thanks. That soldering work might not be pretty but it's solid -- damn tight space to work in even with the zip tie removed. It's just sitting on my shelf now -- am I asking too much? Should I get someone with a prettier thumb to hold it?

EDIT: For anyone doing this themselves, when you remove the zip tie a red wire, that's even harder to reach than the yellow one, will likely come loose. Fun stuff.
