If you put sliders on it, you probably won't be lowering the seat much at all. If you put sliders on with the Porsche GT3 seat, it won't lower you at all. They are smaller seats, but they make you sit in a much more upright position, which negates any lowering you otherwise would have gotten. The GT3 seats also severely restrict your rearward visibility if you drive it on the street and ever have to back up.
The Recaro SPG XL (or Pole Position) will lower you about 1.5 inches compared to the stock seat with the Brey Krause mounting brackets and the Recaro or Sparco sliders. If you ditch the sliders, you can mount the seat lower using the BK brackets, but you will have to modify them to work. They have some that are designed to mount to the floor, but those mounts are the same height as the other mounts plus the sliders. Go with the slider mounts and modify them.
BTW, if you need the Recaro Profi SPG XL, beware that you will lose some leg room as the seat back hits this rollbar. Also, if you use Brey Krause seat mounts, they are all made of stainless steel, and weigh a ton. My seat, with sliders and mounts, weighs very close to the same as the stock seat.

I don't mean to jack this thread, but I've also been looking for racing shell seats for my Boxster to allow me to install a full harness system for track days and to lower my seating position in the car. I'm 6'1" 190 lbs and had primarily been considering the GT3 seats, Recaro Profi SPG XL, and the Sparco EVO2 Plus.
I've been told the larger (XL/Plus) aftermarket seats require some custom fabrication to fit in the car correctly - can anyone confirm or describe this further?
I was also under the impression you could mount any of these on sliders and still be lower than the stock 986 seat. Doesn't the actual seat bucket of these shells sit lower in the car than stock or I am completely mistaken?
