Mine was mounted in the original bracket, but had it places with wires upwards. Did not make too much mess since it was not leaking much. But enough to make it shortcut.
Never ohm'ed it. Just replaced it witch a new MSD coil.
8222 does not have oil kernal, but epoxy filled.
