Did it at home with wood. Use a old car seat, that works great. A couple of things to consider. Different people will use it. So my chair is still on the sliders for adjustability and the steering wheel is mounted to something I can push or pull to get the distance right. I also found that I added some extra angle to the pedals as they lay too flat on the floor to be comfortable so the pedals sit on a wedge shaped block now. You will need to secure that block and the pedals....but its better than the pedals floating across the floor...

The seat\pedals sit on a sheet of plywood, the seat is on a set of 2*4's to raise it a bit. Then the wheel is on a seperate piece ( mini desk ). Real simple to make.....
