I heard that the rod bearings from aftermarket supplies have had some issues lately as well. I tried to order Factory 2.4 rod bearing shells and Stoddard had 3 half shells and the rest would have had to come from Germany. And the cost would have been almost $400 for just the shells. I could not wait a month for the order to arrive, so I used the aftermarket ones(15 year old stock) that we supposed to be ok. I am no expert, but my machinist is and confirms that there is an issue, either in the composition of the materials, or something else has changed. From what I understand is that under severe racing conditions they just do not hold up.
