I had previously used Clevite 77 bearings when rebuilding my friend's 911...but after checking online...I can't seem to find them in Clevite's latest catalog.
I prefer them to any other...because they came with grooves already machined in...and had hardened back shells.
They were available in several different styles...some with radiused sides to get better oiling.
I have also seen a set with what appears to be a "leaf" style set of grooves in the surface to promote oil dispersion on the journal.
