They're a bit asymmetrical - the bottom left bolster bows out a bit more, presumably for clutch leg freedom.
Also, theres a dent in the bottom, for clearance on the seat slider release.
Don't know whatkind of clues you're looking for here; I think there were 2 different ones back in the day - what came in the factory cars, and the ones sold by Vasek in his racing catalog.
