Your calculation assumes your money returning 7%. I think having 5k tied up to someone that pays cash only reflects about 2% or $500 for 5 years.
I also do not think the reduction in value of the diesel premium is proportional to the overall vehicle value. I do believe the delta diesel / gas remains pretty constant on a truck that is 3 years vs. 8 years.
