making subframe/adapter for Corbeau seats
Hi Pelicans,
I've got a pair of Corbeau targas that are in ok shape that I want to fit to my 924S.
The sliders that are on the seats are narrower than the stock sliders so I need to either buy adapters or make some. The adapters seem quite expensive, and also look like simply 4 bits of flat steel welded together.
I was wondering whether a couple of stips of flat steel would do the job. The way I'm imagining it is to bolt the front two mounting points of the seat to a strip of steel and the rear two to another piece then mount those to the original mounting points on the floor. This is basically what the Corbeau adapters are but without the steel strips connecting the front and back strips.
Has anyone done anything similar, and do you think not joining the two steel strips would mean the mount wasn't strong enough?
From looking at a few of the subframes available that are 'universal' it looks like a few sections of flat steel is really all you need.
