Recently I had put my 88 Carrera on C/L for sale.
Now the car is not perfect but it runs well and has only 70k on the clock. Known issues were disclosed in the ad and they were as follows:
Car runs very well but has an intermittent tendency to smoke. This, I believe is the valve guide issue that these cars are known for. I am including a complete set of heads freshly rebuilt by Henry Schmidt @ Supertec.
Other issues are the sunroof is inoperative(cables, as I can hear the motor still). A/C compressor has a leak and therefore does not cool.
Car had a windows-out respray sometime before I got it and is better than average. Interior is and off-white and is about a 8/10.
Wheels are O.E. Fuchs 16x7" front and 16x8" rear that, unfortunately were chromed and show signs of their age and are pitted somewhat. I do have a have another set of Fuchs in the same sizes that are not chromed but are in need of refinishing.
Only mods are Momo Prototipo steering wheel, Dansk single in dual out muffler and Steve Wong chip. Tires are excellent with more than 80% tread remaining.
I had it priced at $13,500 and people were offering me ridiculous numbers like $8k for it. I'm sure I could part it out for more than that, but that would be a sad way to go........
