I have just finished repairing the same animal. I used an earlier 5.0 shortblock I had and replaced all the innards, heads, everything with the best of the two parts selections. It was an early stud engine, but I went with what I had on hand. Due to the earlier block the later starter bracket does not fit and neither does the flywheel. I used the block's starter bracket and flywheel. The other parts are pretty much interchangeable.
