Cooling Fan Rubbing on Housing

Has anyone found their fan(s) blades rubbing on the housing?
Last summer, I heard an intermittent scraping noise from the fan that stays on after engine shutdown. It seemed to go away during the fall, and I forgot about it, but lately I've noticed a smell of something burning, so I checked under the hood and found that there is zero clearance between the driver's side fan blades and the top edge of the fan shroud. The fan still spins, but it is constantly rubbing the shroud.
So, I thought maybe the fan had come loose, but the fan mounting nuts feel tight.

Question, is there room for adjusting the fan in the housing? Can the housing itself warp?
Normally, I'd just get in there and start wrenching, but as you all know, there isn't a lot of room in the 944 engine bay, so I thought I'd ask here first!
Thanks
Eric
