Cooling Fan Rubbing on Housing

Has anyone found their fan(s) blades rubbing on the housing?
Last summer, I heard an intermittent scraping noise from the fan that stays on after engine shutdown. It seemed to go away during the fall, and I forgot about it, but lately I've noticed a smell of something burning, so I checked under the hood and found that there is zero clearance between the driver's side fan blades and the top edge of the fan shroud. The fan still spins, but it is constantly rubbing the shroud.
So, I thought maybe the fan had come loose, but the fan mounting nuts feel tight.

Question, is there room for adjusting the fan in the housing? Can the housing itself warp?
Normally, I'd just get in there and start wrenching, but as you all know, there isn't a lot of room in the 944 engine bay, so I thought I'd ask here first!
Thanks
Eric

Housing is warped, fan is drawing too much juice, failure of fan relay is next.

Path of least resistance. . .junkyard replacement. Path of thexthiest resistance. . .custom aluminum shroud with dual modern fans.

That was my worst case scenario. At least it is still cold enough that the fans don't come on all the time!

Go to this ebay listing number: 130664648925. There's one for sale. Just the housing. Good luck.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

I had same problem... drove me nuts... screwed with fan mounting... got most of rubbing fixed... sandpaper on the blades (where rubbing) fixed rest...

Not permanent... fan now not perfectly balanced... will eventually fail...

But a good jerry-rig... till find thexthiest replacement...

Nice looking fan shroud, what fans did you use? Looks like the corner boxed edge is welded up, correct?

And....is "thexthiest" an newly coined term by you???
