As others have stated, it's grounding someplace. Forget the directions, you have something else going on. Disassemble and teach yourself how the system works, upon careful examination you'll find the issue. The system is simple and easy, you'll be able to sort this one out. If you have problems, post pics of your setup here. We might be able to spot something you've missed.
