It's been my experience that you have to remove the bumper to get the whole assembly out. There are 2 nuts that hold it in there i think. Unless you have access to a lift, you may find yourself on your back removing the bumper. It's not that bad actually. Just alot of squeezing your hands into small spaces. You may also have to remove your front valence to get to the bumper bolts.
The whole job can be done with a ratchet, 10mm socket, 10mm wrench and a 19mm socket
