I have moved a few times in my adult life and consider myself somewhat of a pro. It helps keep clutter down, that's for sure.
It is not true that they are all crooks. A good company does inventory at departure as well as arrival (with you present and counter-signing). A good company creates little to no damage and if they do, they cover it with their insurance or have repair specialists come by and fix the damage for you. Good companies will crate your mirrors and other items that are fragile.
Rest assured that my tool box is locked upon departure.
