price opinion 1986 911
Have had several 3.2's and currently have an '86. Complete engine work and tranny could cost you $15k give or take depending of needs. A decent 1986 can be had for about $18-22k so you would be way upside-down on the car. Take it to a good mechanic and hace PPI done on it and see what he says. A P car with 176k miles may still run for a long but I probably would not pay high teens for it.
