I just had the same issue. Normal driving coming to a right turn and downshifting 3rd to 2nd and the shifter just went limp (front to back). It would then not move left or right. STUCK IN 3RD GEAR. I took the console apart thinking the issue would appear at the bottom based on internet research, Nope, all good. Jacked up the whole back of the car, played around and it looked like the long throw side wasn't doing it's job. Popped the linkage off that control and sure enough it slid right out into my hand, the cable snapped off right where it connects to the linkage rod. No way to fix that. Needs whole new cable assembly as they sell it from Porsche. Dealer quote is $185. Not bad though because I worked for Honda parts (+ others) and that's not but a few bucks more than theirs. WHAT P'S ME OFF IS THERE'S ONLY 15,400 MILES ON THIS CAR...... WHAT THE...and it's a 4+ hour job if you have a lift and I don't yet. I know my name suggests otherwise, but I BABY this car. I have my track cars, etc. Why would a garage kept car w/ 15k pop a shift cable like this.... my extended warranty sucks because I found out I shouldn't have touched a thing. So why have it right? I thought it may be something stupid like a popped off linkage bushing. Nope. I've got to get it towed and be at the mercy of the dealer for a week or more. Sh-tcan the warranty and get the balance money back??? I was worried about electrical issues, but it turns out the simple things I can fix are the issues, so why bother!!!!!
