The tire size would only hurt the trans if the RR and LR tires were different sizes. Best way to tell a bad bearing is to take out the drain plug stick your finger in there toward the rear of the car and if you get a bunch (alot) of metal goo from the magnet, there's likely a bad bearing in the trans.

If his car is a C4, which his signature indicates, it will if the diameter is different from the front. OP should mount proper size tires & check the magnet & replace the diff fluid with new Porsche oil.
