Look around at the various 914 buyers guides (this site and the 914 fans page) there is the "Dave's big butt test" where in a portly friend site in the passenger seat and takes the top off, rolls down the window and tries to open the door.If either the door sticks or a noticable change in the door to body panel gap occurs, you have longitudinal rust causing frame sag. The Brad Meyer kit is made specifically for this problem. Also take off the outer rocker panel, it may just be rust from debris caught in there, but it can also be from the battery acid flowing down the engine shelf and into the longitudinal. If the long is O.K. replacement jack post re-inforcments can be bought for $10-$15 and welded on.
