I started to get fat in my early 30s. I was living in Louisiana. That didn't help. It is much easier to stay slim in CA where you can go outside to exercise and live a more active lifestyle overall. Also, nobody knows how to cook Cajun food here, so it is easier to stay away from the calories.
I am watching my weight closely - at least weigh in weekly. As soon as I let up, it will go up at about a pound a month. In 10 years I'd be morbidly obese!

One thing I never do is buy bigger clothes when the pants start getting tight. Eventually you will have to do something if you don't want to go to work with your butttons open ...
It hasn't gotten easier, it is really true that your body needs less and less food to maintain its weight with age. I am looking forward to retirement where I will have time to do 2+ hours of cardio a day and go back to eating what I want!
