901 and 911 Transaxle Mainshafts
I happened to be looking through my shop manual and I noticed that the mainshaft (input shaft) on a Sportmatic doesn't have 2nd gear permantantly attached.
Could that be used as an alternative to a "904" input shaft in a normal 901/911 box? Basically, could you swap it into a regular box? Could you use it in a 5-speed and still keep all 5 gears?
